What happens when you combine 'the dog that didn't bark' with 'how much noise does a terrorist attack make if it isn't covered by the media?'....

Have you noticed that there haven't been any significant terrorist attacks during the past few weeks? Nothing in the United States, nothing in Europe, and nothing in Iraq. Since nobody would be so bold (and so stupid) as to claim that the terrorists have given up their quest or that our anti-terrorism efforts have totally shut down the terrorist networks, I feel pretty comfortable saying that the reason we haven't been attacked is because the terrorists believe such an attack would benefit McCain and, as they prefer Obama to McCain, they've decided to hold off attacking us until after the election. In other words, they still want to attack us, they have the ability to attack us, they've just decided to wait to attack us.

But... have there really been no significant terrorist attacks? We only know that we haven't been reading about attacks, but, as all paranoid conspiracy freaks know, just because something's not on the front page of the NYT doesn't mean it hasn't happened. And why might the NYT not cover an attack? Well, it might have something to do with the fact that the media believes reporting on attacks would benefit McCain and, as they prefer Obama to McCain, they've decided to hold off covering terrorist attacks until after the election.

Yeah, I know this last part is a bit on the paranoid side... but in an election where the media has done their absolute best to cover for Obama, as evidenced by the LA Times covering up for Obama by refusing to release a reportedly embarrassing video, a number of media outlets allegedly sitting on reports of Obama having an affair, and just about every network and newspaper refusing to properly investigate Obama's shady Internet fundraising, just how are we to know where the media now draws the line between what is and what isn't justifiable?

UPDATE: looks like not everybody got the same marching orders...
