If we stay, they win, if we leave, they lose?

I'm not sure what to make of the fact that both President Bush and Ayman al-Zawahri, Bin Laden's #2 in Al Qaeda, want US forces to stay in Iraq...

Considering that Bush (and the koolaid drinkers), for a long time running, has said we need to keep our troops in Iraq to keep the terrorists from 'winning'. It didn't matter what kind of progress we were making, it didn't matter how many soldiers and civilians were killed, all that mattered was that we didn't leave Iraq... all to keep the terrorists from having a tremendous victory.

Well... since a goal of war is to accomplish one's objectives, since Al Qaeda has now publicly stated that their goal is for us to stay in Iraq, wouldn't our leaving would deny them the victory they seek?
