How many of those, such as Mark Steyn and others ,who are criticizing Bush for impugning the motivations of those opposed to his amnesty bill, took a similar position when Bush did the very same thing to those who opposed aspects of his tactics in fighting terrorism?

Criticizing the motivations of those on the other side of an issue is nothing new for Bush. He, along with the others who use this tactic, understand very well that if they can demonize the opposition they don't have to argue the merits of the issue.

Which, considering the almost total lack of any legitimate justification for this bill, is probably the only arrow in the quiver for Bush.
