Here's a possible reason the Democrats are so quick to claim, despite having no evidence at all to back up this claim, that Bush orchestrated the US Attorney firings in order to protect corrupt Republicans from prosecution:

The Democrats loved Bill Clinton (note: bolding 'love' doesn't do justice to just how much they loved him). They also know (and rationalized away) Clinton fired US Attorneys to derail an investigation into the activities of him and his business associates.

So, their thinking might go something along these lines: if Clinton, a President we absolutely loved resorted to such behavior, how could Bush, a President we absolutely hate, have not done the same thing?

Am I on to something or not?
