Iran's refusal to give up its uranium enrichment program after being hit with UN sanctions is Iran's very public and immediate pledge to keep on chugging along.
The burden is firmly back on the side of the 'international community' to follow up. I can't imagine that anyone really thought (or even hoped) these these sanctions would prevent Iran from proceeding. Their purpose was pyschological in nature, to show Iran that the world was united in its desire to keep Iran from getting nukes, with the hope that Iran would be so distraught over this public spanking that it would pull an Emily Litella, go 'never mind' and stop its development work.
And now that Iran has shown the world how stupid it was to think that, that Iran cares more about getting nukes than it does what the world thinks of it?
Back to you, Bush. What are you going to do now?
