So the UN Security Council actually decided to assess sanctions against Iran, evidently overcoming Russia's objections.
And the 'international community' will heap praise upon itself and will declare that this shows that Iran needs to comport itself with the norms of civilized society, how the UN once again stood up for what is right and necessary, yadda, yadda, yadda.
These sanctions will do NOTHING... except allow the UN to pretend that it is doing something. Iran isn't going to back down because of some trade and financial sanctions, and certainly not the weak-assed sanctions the Russians graciously allowed the UN to pass.
It would be comical if it weren't so serious. Bush will continue to allow his useless Secretary of State to tell him that diplomacy can achieve our goals of having Iran back down.
But Iran will continue to develop nuclear weapons.
And Bush will continue to do nothing about it. What the UN did today was nothing. It took the better part of two years to get to this point, but it amounts to nothing.
