With Israel announcing that it will halt its war against its enemies at 7 AM on Monday, can anyone explain the inconsistency between their doing so and Bush's refusal to even provide a hint of when he's planning to shut things down in Iraq?

If it's so important that fighting continue until 'the job is done' in Iraq, why is it any less important that Israel not 'finish the job' in Lebanon? If announcing a timetable in Iraq will only 'encourage the terrorists' to wait us out, why isn't Israel just encouraging Hezbollah to wait them out?

Bush, by pushing Israel to do what he himself refuses to do, is showing that Emerson had it exactly backwards...
