So, giving classified information to someone not authorized to receive it earned ex-Pentagon analyst Lawrence Franklin 12 years in jail... even though Franklin claimed his doing so was motivated by a desire to help the United States, not hurt it.

This news sure can't be making whomever leaked the story of the NSA's domestic monitoring program real happy now, can it?

And with Steven Rosen and Keith Weissman, the two AIPAC members to whom Franklin gave the information, going on trial themselves in April, I sure bet that the NYT is going to be paying particular attention to how well their defense - that their discussions with Franklin were protected under the 1st Amendment - plays before the judge...
