We had to destroy the Presidency in order to save it...
With regards to White House claims that Miers needs to be supported in order to save Bush's presidency, I say HOGWASH! How does putting on the Supreme Court someone who doesn't belong there 'save' his presidency? The GOP didn't do Bush I any favors when they let him put Souter on the Court and renege on his pledge to not raise taxes... wouldn't the Bush I presidency have been better served had the GOP refused to go along with those two initiatives of his? I say if Bush II is too stubborn or stupid to see the potential damage this nomination can cause to his Presidency and the country, then just as Laura once told him 'enough', so too does the GOP need to stage an intervention.
