James Taranto links to Steven Spielberg saying, in referring to aliens, "I can't believe anybody would travel such vast distances bent on destruction. I believe anybody who would travel such vast distances are curious explorers, not conquerors".
Given such a view from a pillar of Hollywood liberalism, is Christopher Columbus due for some serious rehabilitation of his reputation? Columbus, along with his fellow 'explorers', travelled vast distances.... at least by the standards of the 15th century.
