DeLay wants us to blame the Democrats for his ethics problems...

Was it the Democrats who told you to hang around sleaze like Abramoff? Was it the Democrats who told you to take trips paid for by those seeking to influence legislation? Was it the Democrats who told you to put your family on the campaign payroll? Was it the Democrats who told you to install your toadies on the House Ethics Committee? Was it the Democrats who told you to bribe a fellow Congressman? Was it the Democrats who told you to change the rules by which the Ethics Committee can initiate an investigation? Was it the Democrats who had the majority of votes on the Ethics Committee that voted to admonish you three times?

No, Tom, these are all your doing. You made your bed, now you can deal with it.

You are right that the Democrats "have no agenda other than partisanship". And they are attacking you in hopes of keeping the GOP from accomplishing its agenda. And it wouldn't surprise me if indeed there was a "mammoth operation" funded by Democratic supporters and designed to destroy you as a symbol of the Republican majority.... what say we call it the Vast Left Wing Conspiracy?

But blind squirrels and directionless Democrats can still every now then get things right. And what is right is that you resign your leadership position. Don't make the mistake of thinking that you are indispensable to the cause, that without you, the GOP has no chance of accomplishing its agenda. We will do fine without you. Don't let the door hit your corrupt a** on the way out.

Note: Trent Lott, as usual, can't see the forest for the trees, with his comment in support of DeLay: "That's the problem, you know, Republicans eat their own. ... Democrats stand by their own until hell freezes over". Actually, Trent, it is good that Republicans have standards and the Democrats don't. Do you really believe that had the Democrats come down hard on Clinton over Monica-gate, that Bush would have beaten Gore?
