The Israelis can be stupid at times, but they're not suicidal... which is what they would be if they didn't have plans to destroy Iran's nuclear sites... It's possible that, as Betsy puts it, this is "the stick to go along with the carrots that the Europeans are offering the Iranians". But, if waving a stick is important (as I've long made clear I believe to be the case), wouldn't a US-military stick carry a lot more weight? And, should military action be necessary, as again I think will be the case, as the Europeans appeasement offers will not succeed, wouldn't the US be in a better position (closer to Iran) and better able (troops with actual combat experience) to pull off such a mission?
